Oil Greed Through The Years

 I like to play chess, On my computer disk chess game I can set up the board any way I want. One day I decided what would happen if I took the two kings off the board, to my surprise the computer program still  calculated where the kings should be, I did not see my king but I still  saw the 'check' prompt popped up.

This makes me wonder, if the program can be use in war situations. Programming a computer where the Russian soldiers had been attacking, then have it to predict were they are most likely to attack next. Even the most mi mute details can help.

In 1969 to 1974 Richard Nixon was president, it was about oil way back then also, in fact Nixon was the one who started the 55 MPH speed limit, as well as de-valuing American money, by printing more money and have the value of gold go down.

 Back then the American money system was base on gold, but any more, money is money, because the government says it is. Yes, that was during the Vietnam war and this country has oil, gas and other resources.

2011 Another terror attack? Did Iran actually do anything? I remember watching the news and seeing Americans firing weapons in the desert, firing at what? Anyway they were attacking every 2 to 4 hours. 2,4,2,4,etc or 4,2,4,2. Yes Iran has oil and other resources . Again with the oil

Food for oil, where would the food come from?  I let you take a guess on that one.

So if WW3 does happen hide in a country that has no natural resources such as oil. Usually such wars are all about greed (end) 

Don't Get Scam

 

Scammers are getting cleverer these days, the best thing to do, of course, if you do not know the number personally don't answer it.

 On my landline answering machine I got a call from South Carolina, I don't know anyone in South Carolina, I heard the message "May, I talk to Stanley?", then it was" hello  hello" to me if someone does not leave a message ,of what they want, I don't consider it as important, and do not answer.

 The scam number was/is  *843-628-0176 . I Googled it, and they could not find any documents for that number, so I knew it had to be a scam. A real business would have documents of who they are.

Social Security, Medicate, Medicare, Mircosoft and IRS will never call, unless you call them first; They only communicate by sending letters.

 Even on television you see advertisements of Medicare Part C, I would be wary of that, mostly because most say "Don't wait, call now" What's the hurry?  Don't paid attention of such advertisements, most have crawls with fine prints with special conditions and saying they're not really part of the government.

Yes, phone numbers can be "spoof" to make sure if they did call;  call them and ask them if they did indeed call. not the number displayed, but the one in the original phone book. if you do not know the number, don't answer it especially if they do not leave a message on your answering machine.

One day I got a call saying the caller was a policeman and he was going to arrest me, I told him  "Good it will give me time to make my escape". Dumb idiot.

*843-628-0176 is a robot call, when I find scams  I tell other people about it across all my medias. See scam videos below the phone numbers are displayed because they're scam numbers anyway, these 5 short videos may be good for a few laughs :) -end.

The Dog Gone Phenomenon

                               The Dog Gone Phenomenon, boy what a mouth full! 

Last week I dreamt that I was in my old parent's house , inside the house was my friends' dog name of Peppi who was in a cage, it barks a couple of times then I woke up. The next day I got the news that my friends' dog Peppi had died of natural causes. Now don't feel too sad, the dog was 15+ years old. 15 years is the usual life span for a dog.

In the 1980's I dreamt my neighbor's kids was playing with rocks, and in this dream the kids pick up a boulder and was going to drop it on my dog's head before seeing the dared deed I woke up. Sure enough, three days later, I had had seen my neighbor's kids playing with rocks and was about to pick up a boulder, I told them to stay out of my yard from now on, and then told them, to play in the park, which was in the same general area. My female dog's name was Buddy, who lived for an unusual 19 years.

Again, in the 1980's when I had bronchitis, I tried to heal myself, until I got a dream of two men saying to me "Hey, buddy go see a doctor in which I did.

In 2003, I usually visit my dad on Wednesdays and Sundays, at the nursing home, but on February 10 Sunday at dinner, I saw my dad's eyes had tears in them. At that time, I thought he was thinking of our late mom. On February 12th, the nursing home called me and said my dad is dying. I guess two days ago someone told him he was going to die. My dad Homer was buried on Valentine's Day.

In the early 1960's yes, a dream again, I dreamt of a beautiful girl that I have never seen or met, and yet two weeks later there were people moving in next door, and yes one of their daughters was the beautiful girl that  was in my dream. Her name was Gloria and she and the neighbors became good friends to us, my family and me.

Now these warnings of predictions don't always have to be dreams; Did you ever light a match for a cigarette or cigar and suddenly the match goes out, then you try again and again the match goes out, you look around and find out the wind is calm and nothing blowing. What's going on? Maybe it's your body trying to tell you something, maybe it's your body saying, "I don't want that crap in my body!"

Maybe you have dreamt that your heart has stop beating, it may mean nothing, after all it is just a dream, but still it won't hurt to have it checked out.

Oh yes, sometimes a person might dream of what lottery numbers to play, I did, but the those dream numbers were never called, but it could have, who knows?

Cutting The Cord

 

As you know tv-cable is getting too expensive, so some people decide to cancel their cable and simply put up a digital antenna, but don't be fooled, when it says HD and picks up stations 200 miles away, the thing is because the earth is curved, it will only pick up stations that are only less than 75 miles away regardless of what it says on the box.

Another thing, an old antenna from the 50's and 60's era will work, as well picking up digital signals;  Like the Radio Shack's Channel Master antenna. Just connect the antenna to your digital tv, set your selector switch (cable/air) to 'air' or 'antenna' and simply scan for channels.

Of course, if you have cable internet, you may not need to put up an outside antenna, simply get a  2-way splitter and connect the cable to the input in, then output the other two cables, one to your router and the other to your digital TV, but this time set your (cable/air) selector switch to' cable' and scan for channels, You WILL NOT  get any basic cable stations, just broadcast stations which is free, to the public anyway, so it is  not illegal.Try it to see if  it works.

Another way is getting a Roku unit*, then search for the major 'broadcast' networks, you probably won't be able to watch your programs, on the day they run; But the next day, you can still watch your favorite show On Demand.

 On the Pluto station on Roku, you can watch the old Mission Impossible series, or even Hawaii 5-0 There is even Tubi and similar sites that is like Netflix with commercials. Plus loads of free movies if you're willing to sit through the commercials. The Roku unit even has YouTube, which is free, and if you have Netflix a paid service, that is on there as well;  As well as other paid services, It's your choice. :) (end)

*NOTE; If you have both tv cable and cable internet and want to cancel your cable, the company may increase your internet payment, in this case, it is cheaper to keep both.If you can afford both then you can use your antenna and/or Roku as back-up.

Conflicts

The Sound Of Music is about a true story of The Von Trapp family, in this story there is a mean captain, except that in real life the captain wasn't mean at all. The story was just written that way, so Maria could change him later.

In the Journeys of Mr. Meg Laurel* starring Lindsay Wagner, a doctor meets a healer who uses herbal medicines, and her and people  believes Dr. Laurel ways are evil and the result of the devil. 

However, about halfway through the movie the doctor learns hers is not the only way, then the healer finds out later, her methods are not the only way either; so they decided to help, teach each other and to work together.

In Walt Disney's Parent Trap  (Hayley Mills) the twins did not get along at first, then later they decided to like each other and to switch places and to trick their separated parents to marry each other. Parent trap was re-made in 1998 but this time it was Lindsay Logan starring as both twins.

In the comedy crime drama  remington steele.the NBC network found out that their fans, like it  better ,when there are conflicts, between the two heroical characters. (end)

Unsecured Wi-Fi?

 

I purchase a few months ago a Windows 10 computer, sometimes a dialogue box will pop up saying "my network' is not secured. I ignore it because I  am assuming   they are talking about "public" networks. 

Yes, others may hack into my computer, but I will never use public wi-fi, just a home network, if I want on the internet, I will just use my cellphone and connect to a cellar tower, if I am somewhere else except home.

I never will have personal information stored on my computer;  But sites like my electric company, phone company etc DO have my personal information. 

I always look for the locked padlock on the top left  the sites, sometimes I right click on the locked padlock, to find out, if the site is actually valid, also you may see they use "cookies" DO NOT worry about that, it tells them who you are.

They will monitor the network connection that only you and the creditor are on the site; Everyone else gets locked out, until you are done.  They usually give you a time limit of 20 minutes , for security reasons. After you are done with your business, just close the browser you are using, and re-start it again if you want to continue to search on the internet.

 Because of the locked padlock icon, you do not need a VPN (Virtual Private Network) on a home network; As long as your wireless connection is strong password protected. 

Usually the wi-fi signal has a range of a 100 feet,  200 feet if an extender is use.

 Yes, I have a wireless computer, but I still keep it in the same place. A wireless connection usually has the speed of 50mb while ethernet speed is usually 100mb.

If you're paranoid about being on wireless:  You can connect your Windows 10 to the ethernet. What??? That computer has no ethernet ports, but you can buy an adapter that plugs in one of your USB ports. and make sure it will work on the computer you are using.

Why no ethernet ports on computers anymore? To have a more  thinner shape and no fans either but heat sinks, like it was made like a  cellphone.

You may want to disable (do not uninstall) your wireless connection via "Device Manager" after installing your ethernet adapter.  Do not worry, the wireless on your other devices will still work, you're just turning off the wireless on your 'MAIN' computer.

Yes, I have a main computer where I pay my bills and other private matters, my secondary computers NOT. 

 I do have my personal private information on an old Windows 7, disconnected from the internet entirely, just using it to store records and storing my music and videos, that has external amplified speakers plug in the audio jack (headphone).Yes, you can use your old computer as a jukebox playing mp3s. In fact, some nerds may want to enclosed their old computer in a jukebox shell, to make it look like a jukebox, connected to bigger amplified speakers, and black round 7 inch circles looking like 45 rpm records. :)

If you do get a network adapter, SOMETIMES, you do not connect it to your computer, UNTIL you have downloaded the driver for it  first; Using your wireless connection, or simply call your internet company, to set it up for you, the latter is probably easier since they should have all the equipment.

Choosing 5 numbers for the pick 4 game; What ? How?

 Okay let's choose 5 numbers for the pick 4 game. What, Stanley, have you been drinking crazy juice? Did you buy a Trump math book?  If a game calls for 5 numbers, it'll be called the pick 5 and not the pick 4.Well, guess what, it can be done.

The trick is turning 5 numbers in 4 number combinations, so how many combinations will there be? 

(5 x 4 x 3 x 2) / (4 x 3 x 2 x 1)= 5 combinations

Let's suppose you are playing the digits 0,9,2,7,4 let's put those in ascending order, since we'll be playing them boxed anyway so the same digits will be 0,2,4,7,9 now sort them like below:

            0247 - 0249-0279-0479-2479 

 play them all boxed and when 4 of the 5 numbers match (0,2,4,7,9), you win. At the cost of only $2.50 for all 5 games, the payoff is $100 . What this does is give you somewhat a better chance of winning, because it is targeting a certain area, and not being spread out like 5 random quick picks That isn't bad, $2.50 for a chance for a $100 win :)

Of course a person cannot win all the time, or they wouldn't be having the lotto.When all the digits are different it is called a 24 way box and is percentage wise the most likely. However.....

In the pick 4 there are other ways of winning,

 12 way: Playing a pair for example 1123, two digits are the same,  playing this boxed at 50 cents for one game yields $200.

6 way: Two pair boxed or double double boxed , 1122 or 4455 at 50 cents for one game yields $400

4-way:  played boxed for example 6667 (3 digits are the same), the payoff is $600 but in this case you might have to pay taxes on it, in some states it is 5%  when payments are over $599, so after taxes your winnings will be $570.

Quad (otherwise known as a straight), all four digits the same, 9999, it can only be played straight and will win $2500 on a 50 for one game or $2375 after taxes.

What about the federal tax ? Well, they  usually don't get involve, unless it goes over $10,000, less than that, no federal taxes.

Talking Birds

 They say when birds talk in human speech, they actually do not know what they're saying, but I believe they actually do. The smaller the animal, smaller the brain and  not as smart?

 I  believe it's akin to the Univac computer of the 1950's it could do all math functions, but the thing is ,it ran on vacuum tubes and it filled an entire room, now, any more, a pocket calculator does the same functions. 

So I guess brain size does not matter, a small brain is just as smart as a big brain, except it is miniaturized like a electronic IC chip..

Most birds have eyes, one of each, on each side of their heads meaning they can see from all different directions at once. 

Can you catch a bird if you can put salt on its tail?  Well, good luck with that!

 I  used to have a pet parakeet in the 1960's where its cage was place near a window, she did not talk, but did imitate other birds, even the lawn mower.

You can teach a bird to perch on your finger, but it's got to be somewhere like 2 o'clock in the morning. Just nudge its chest and it will move to your finger. You can also teach it to talk, same time every day, by repeating the same phrase over and over, or better yet, record your voice on your electronic device and set it to loop, and place it near its cage, no more than 20 minutes per day.:)

Laurel And Hardy Fully Restored

 I remember, when I was a kid, I watch old Laurel and Hardy movies ,on a black and white analogue television, those films were full of scratches, pops, fuzzy picture etc. Now today they are fully restored, as if they were filmed yesterday.

Today when one takes a picture or video with their digital camera, it actually  takes three black and white photos/videos, but each one goes from different colored filters red ,green and blue, then they are combined to make one color picture in just one instant. Color film for example has three layers of black and white film layers and you've guess it, each one shot through a different filter red, green and blue place on top on each other. Believe it or not, before that the color movies shown in theaters had three movie projectors going at once, and again with the red, green and blue filters. 

Even  the Library Of Congress stores films, they divide the film in its separate red, green and blue filters, even recent movies are store that way ,in the Library of Congress, not dvds or other media. Films that are kept stored in a air conditioning environment. lasts longer.

Some time ago Stan Laurel's young daughter was wondering, why that Hardy is always picking on her dad, in the movies and their shorts, however in the youtube colorize video below the tables have been turned, as Stan Laurel bests Oliver Hardy:

A youtube video below is a  movie titled "The March Of The Wooden Soldiers"* ,a family and kids musical, comedy  fantasy. It is rated TV-Y7 meaning kids under 7 should not be watching it. When kids are below the age of 7  they usually cannot tell reality from fantasy, is maybe the reason why.

In the movie below they mention a Christmas in July, maybe the writers wanted to explain, why there is no snow on the ground,.

Keys Frozen On Your Laptop Keyboards?

 If you suspect that your keyboard is frozen, but yet your cursor keys do work,  there is hope .Maybe you're not pressing the keys hard enough, but it could be the main reason, you don't have the strength  any more, because of old age, like me,. There are two options:

First option: Go to settings on your computer and try adjust your touchpad, mouse and keyboard settings, and see if that works. Have a younger person help you.

Second option: And maybe the best one, is to get a mouse, get one that uses  a laser, instead of of a mouse ball, the latter has to be clean from time to time, and make sure it's the one that can be plug into your one of your USB  ports. There are even ones that come with a scroll wheel, in the middle of the two buttons. 

 Your new mouse may come with installing software or maybe not, any more if you plug a new device into the computer, it will look for the installing software on the internet, wait for 10 to 20 minutes then you're ready. A dialogue box will pop up and saying 'Installing new software for your device" and will let you know when it's done. A mouse usually cost about $20 or more. Lot cheaper than buying a new computer.

Simply use your mouse to move the cursor to your browser, and simply left click on it, 

On the blank space in the search box left click the mouse again to get  the "I bar"

 and you're ready to type with your laptop's keyboard and simply left click again to search. 

 Note: if you're left handed, you can reverse the order of the keys on the mouse, by going to mouse settings on your laptop. A person does not need much streght to use a mouse since they are spring loaded.

Another option: Buy an an external keyboard, as before get the one that plugs into one of your USB ports and see if that is easier. There are even wireless ones, which allow you to sit in your easy chair and type away. :)

Yes, there are function keys  on top of your laptop and maybe you accidently lock your keyboard, if you have such a key, just press it again. No one wants to go through setting their computer to factory settings and waiting for 6-8 hours. (end)

My Relationships In War

Since it is nearing independence day I decided to blog about my relationships that were in various wars and what America Armed Services they were in. I was in the Navy myself, but this blog is about others and not myself, and let's not forget about the women that help through the war in the past and in the present, they even flew the planes and made weapons, and let's not forget about the service dogs that serve our country.

             

Let's start with Thomas, he was my father's father and in WWI he and his team ,after capturing the Nazis, fed the starving and naked Jewish people that were imprison in concertation camps. I will let your imagination take over from here, on how the Jewish people were clothed and fed. 

After Jewish people got their strength back, the Americas took them to their head quarters and there were orders that were bark out "Line up for chow" most of the Jewish people knew English, but had no idea what the word "chow" meant, until they saw various food on various tables, and they were told they can eat to their hearts' content, as you might as guess, the Jewish people team up with the Americans to put Hitler down.

       

Homer was my dad and he fought in WWII . He sign up for the Marines for one year. My dad did have a couple of war prizes, that he stole from Hitler, no one cares if you steal from Hitler. A lamp and a Jewish typewriter, that typed from right to left with Hebrew letters, rather than left to right. Apparently Jewish people read from Right to left, they even have a backward question mark.

     

When Homer  died, I was honored  with the American flag on top of his coffin, I had to sign a waiver, to make the government property my own personal property. My family had documents that prove my dad was in the Marines, otherwise the flag would have cost me $300.

     

Larry was my brother, he had joined several American armed services, one after the other. When a term was up on one service, he join another one. My mom, Mary, told my brother "Larry ?, You're going to be an old man before your time !  which my brother replied "Yes, but I will be a rich old man !"

My toxic uncle Don was in the air force and a member of the Flying Tigers. I did not like him too much, he always likes to insult and downgrade a lot, he even told me not to learn Japanese or German, I disobeyed him and learn some German. One day, I had showed my fangs and let him have it, I had to. Enough is enough.

     

My uncle Dean was a lot friendlier, he was in the Army maybe in other services, I do not know, but later he got a job at the cheese factory. I was giving his watch and one of the roses of his coffin, which I had put in a plastic freezer bag and place in the freezer, which I had kept for four years.
